Some Leica M9 camera users have experienced a failure of the IR filter that covers the Kodak supplied CCD. What is disturbing, besides the failure of a 7k dollar camera, is the IR filters are not compromised when leaving Solms. After delivery of the M9 the IR filter glass cracks. In some cases the IR filters were broken when the cameras were received. Many users speculate the glass breakage is due to cold weather in combination with a difference in shrinkage rates of the IR cover and the CCD.
Leica appears to be repairing the affected M9′s very quickly. You can read more about the M9 IR filter issue on the l-camera-forum.

Have you received yours yet? I guess not… I’m not sure I would have heard about it by now… or perhaps that is why you’ve been kinda quiet that last couple of days.
