In today’s digital age there are scores of photographers that have never photographed with film let alone developed their own negative or printed their own contact sheet. In fact, film cameras are starting to be snapped up by curious hipster types that are intrigued by what is now considered an “alternative process” of photography.
Ansel Adam’s timeless book, The Camera, explains the difference between small, medium and large format film cameras. This book also covers shutter types, lens choices and light meters.
If you never plan to shoot with film you would still be well served by owning a copy of this book. “The Camera” contains many nuggets of wisdom that transcend film photography. I’ve had a copy of ”The Camera” for a years and I recommend this book over and over to friends who need a grounding in the basic mechanics of the photographic process.

I need to get myself a copy of this… or perhaps I should put it on my Christmas wish list!
Please click on my link and support this site when you do! It is a fantastic book from the father of Landscape Photography, Ansel Adams.
