The files are fantastic and the 5D classic, to the best of my knowledge, isn't plagued with the notorious banding of the 5DMKII. Pick up the 5D classic and enjoy! I'm sure I'll be ready for the 1DsMKIV or the 5DMKIII but until then I'm shooting my classic 5D. I really want a 5DMkII but not sure I can afford it. So am considering a 5D classic with some nice lenses, then one day I will upgrade to the 3D or whatever comes next.... you have made me feel like this is not as stupid a decision as I suspected!
